Help Wanted: Community Events Team Leader (Part-Time)
El Rito Library | Northern New Mexico
The El Rito Library is seeking a creative, organized, and community-driven individual to serve as our Part-Time Community Events Team Leader. This role is ideal for someone passionate about building meaningful connections through educational, cultural, and community-centered programming in a rural library setting. Position Details Title: Community Events Team Leader Status: Part-Time Pay: $22.00 per hour Location: El Rito Library, El Rito, NM

Key Responsibilities
The El Rito Library is seeking a creative, organized, and community-driven individual to serve as our Part-Time Community Events Team Leader. This role is ideal for someone passionate about building meaningful connections through educational, cultural, and community-centered programming in a rural library setting.
Community Programming & Events
Plan and coordinate community events such as holiday celebrations, pancake breakfasts, and the annual Chocolate Chocolate event
Develop educational programming including field trips, guest presentations, STEM activities, early literacy initiatives, Spanish language learning for children, robotics, and 3D printing workshops
Community Support & Outreach
Organize events that support community well-being, including health education and substance abuse awareness presentations Coordinate cultural and historical programming such as local history events, the fruit tree project, and traditional arts (quilting, music, etc.)
Event Planning & Coordination
Ensure all events are thoughtfully scheduled and organized well in advance Coordinate presenters, volunteers, and attendees to ensure smooth execution Ensure all events are open and accessible to the entire community
Planning & Administration
Submit detailed written proposals for all events to the Lead Librarian for approval, including: Anticipated costs and potential revenue Staffing and volunteer needs Proposed dates and times
Marketing & Communication
Ensure all event advertisements are produced in both English and Spanish to reach a broad and inclusive audience Post event notices in public spaces (post offices, community boards, Abiquiú News, etc.) Coordinate with the Information Management team to promote events on the library website Recommend paid advertising (e.g., Rio Grande Sun, Santa Fe Reporter) when appropriate
Community Engagement
Actively gather input from community members regarding desired events and additional services the library can provide Foster strong relationships with local organizations, educators, and community leaders
Qualifications Strong organizational and planning skills Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Experience coordinating events or community programs preferred Ability to work independently and collaboratively Passion for serving a rural and diverse community Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required

Library Team Leader
El Rito Library | Northern New Mexico Are you a passionate library professional who believes in the power of community, knowledge, and access? El Rito Library is seeking a dedicated and experienced Library Team Leader to guide daily operations, support staff, and ensure our library remains a welcoming and vital resource for all.
Position Overview
The Library Team Leader is responsible for overseeing library operations, maintaining a high-quality collection, supporting staff development, and fostering strong community relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain a safe, clean, welcoming, and engaging environment for all patrons.
Monitor and manage library assets, including the circulating collection, online catalog, and displays.
Develop and curate collections by adding new materials and removing outdated items; ensure catalog accuracy.
Serve as liaison to the New Mexico State Library, staying current on: Filing requirements and deadlines
Create and manage staff schedules.
Train and support desk librarians in library practices and computer systems.
Produce a monthly or bi-monthly newsletter for patrons.
Engage with community members to identify needs and promote collaboration with organizations such as NNMC and local public schools.
Ensure the collection reflects the needs and interests of the community, in consultation with patrons.
Prepare and deliver monthly reports to the Board of Directors, including updates, achievements, and emerging issues.
Communicate Board directives to staff and elevate unresolved staff concerns in coordination with Human Resources.
Minimum Qualifications
At least three (3) years of experience in a library setting (preferred)
Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Experience with library systems, cataloging, and collection development
Ability to manage staff schedules and support team development
Strong community engagement and collaboration skills
Proficiency with computers and standard office/library software

Desk Librarian
Part-Time Desk Librarian El Rito Library | Northern New Mexico
El Rito Library is seeking a dependable, friendly, and community-minded individual to join our team as a Part-Time Desk Librarian. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people and wants to be part of a welcoming rural library environment.

Position Overview
As a Desk Librarian, you will be one of the first points of contact for patrons, helping create a positive and helpful library experience. This role supports the daily operations of the library and contributes to maintaining an organized and accessible collection.
Key Responsibilities
Greet and assist patrons in a friendly and professional manner
Check library materials in and out using library systems
Assist with cataloging books and materials
Shelve and organize books and other items
Help maintain a clean, welcoming, and orderly library space
Work collaboratively as part of a supportive team environment
Qualifications & Requirements

A genuine desire to work in a rural library setting
Strong customer service skills and a welcoming attitude
Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
Basic computer skills and willingness to learn library systems

Finance Team Leader

Reports directly to the Board. Responsibilities include:

Finance
  • Keeping the books of the Corporation using computer-based accounting software.
  • Processing employee payroll, including collecting timesheets and creating payroll checks and stubs.
  • Paying Corporate bills from the Corporate checking account, and acting as a gatekeeper to other teams to help keep expenses down.
  • Developing procedures whereby management can authorize the library to purchase needed supplies and equipment, including special rules for restricted funds such as GO Bonds.
  • Implementing a cash management policy to earn interest on idle funds.​
  • Providing quarterly and annual financial reports to the Board, and apprising the Board of upcoming financial issues.
  • In coordination with Information Management, staying up to date with new bookkeeping and record keeping services and software available in the marketplace, and proposing to the Board changes that will improve efficiency and best practices, and lower costs.
  • Ensuring that best practices are used when recording financial transactions in the accounting software, and that the books comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Acting as a resource to other teams to help ensure prudence in spending library funds.
Compliance
  • Acting as a resource to provide information to teams about what is necessary to maintain 501(c)(3) status; monitoring for violations and proposing corrective action to the Board.
  • Acting as a resource to provide information about non-profit best practices.
  • In coordination with Information Management, managing an electronic record keeping system; backing up electronic records to multiple physical locations for security; providing access to such records to the Board and to Management, as needed; and using industry standards in storing all computer-based records.
  • Filing all necessary State and Federal payroll forms, such as Federal 940, 941, W-2, 1099, New Mexico WWT and WKC, and DWS.
  • Filing non-payroll reports, such as Federal 990, NM Secretary of State annual report, NM Attorney General COROS report, and others needed.
  • Following the Document Retention Policy of the library.
Risk
  • Ensuring that all library insurance, including but not limited to unemployment, worker's compensation, indemnity, and property insurance, is kept up to date. Informing the Board of significant changes to coverage and/or pricing as soon as they are known.
  • Assessing financial risk at the library in coordination with other teams, and reporting such risk to the Board.

The ideal candidate will have a background in nonprofit accounting, recordkeeping, governmental reporting, understanding of government rules and regulations, tax preparation, risk assessment, and "shopping for deals".

This is a part-time position, the number of hours to be determined by the specific needs of ERPL on a weekly basis. Salary is $21 per hour.

Information Management Team Leader

Reports to the Lead Librarian. Responsibilities Include:
  • Managing the library's web site.
  • Implementing the library's document retention policy.
  • Assisting other teams in finding cost-effective software that meets their needs.
  • Liasing with Kit Carson Internet and IT vendors to ensure the library's Internet, internal network, and computer equipment function at peak efficiency.
  • Staying apprised of new developments in library, accounting, document management, and other relevant software so that information can be shared with other teams.
  • Staying apprised of new hardware that might be useful to the library, and sharing that information with other teams.
  • ​Developing security strategies to prevent viruses, trojans, and malware from infecting library computers, and to guard against inappropriate web site access for children.​
  • Keeping track of license expiration dates for online services (Biblionix, Kanopy, Libby, etc.) and desktop apps, and informing Finance of renewal dates and amounts in a timely fashion.
  • Regularly updating computer apps to the latest version.
  • Maintaining computers, printers, fax machine, phones, and software. Liasing with providers as needed.
  • Performing backups of critical online data onto local hard drives on a regular basis.

The ideal candidate will have a background in IT operations and software assessment, and will be comfortable with technical jargon and software functions and usage.
