Library Services

Circulation

Our collection of hardcopy books, DVDs, magazines, games, and other media numbers over 16,000 items.  While using the digital catalog is efficient, walking through the stacks of books lets you be surprised and seduced by books you never thought to search for.
Magazines, Newspapers
New Mexico Magazine, High Country News, Consumer Reports, National Geographic, New Yorker Magazine, Art in America, Rio Grande Sun, Taos News, Mother Earth News, El Palacio, Field and Stream, and many more are available. Sit in one of our comfortable chairs and learn about New Mexico and the world.

Inter-library Loan

Through the New Mexico State Library, patrons may order books, periodicals, and other media not available in the El Rito Library. Inter Library Loan books usually take one week to arrive and are free of charge for library card-holders.

Computers and Peripherals

Patrons have access to the following:
  • 7 public use computers with Internet access
  • Public Wi-Fi 
  • Copier and computer-linked printer (10 cents per copy)
  • Scan & Send capacity for documents ​

Meeting Rooms

Small meeting rooms are available outside regular library hours. There is no fee charged for this service. We ask only that users sign a "do no harm" document and leave the facilities clean. Reservations are required by calling 575-581-4608.  

Card Catalog

Our old card catalog now is our Curiosity Cabinet as a repository of specimens of rocks, fossils, insects, shells, skeletons of small animals.
